Edwardian 1901-1910
Because of the harshness of the Victorian poorer housing, the Edwardian generation wanted a more sensitive and gentle way of life. Many garden suburbs were developed. Middle-class brick houses were laid out in tree lined roads, starting in the London outskirts then applied more widely and cheaply. We start to see the introduction of “semi-detached”, front and back doors and the luxury of a garden.
